Graduating high school and now attending college can be a difficult change in your young adult life. The work load is completely different than anything you have had previously in high school, and more than likely you will not be in the comfort of your own home. So with this different workload and environment you will have to change your study habits, to ensure you will get good grades.
After a long day attending lectures and lab classes required you will be expected to study for 2 to 3 hours every night so that you are current in what will be discussed in the next day’s lectures. Staying awake to complete this task can be difficult. Some students find it helpful to exercise, drink caffeine, or take frequent naps whenever the chance arises. Using a combination of these may prove to be the best equation for you personally. Staying healthy and fit will keep your mind active and alert, drinking caffeine will help you stay awake for longer periods of time as well as taking naps throughout the day.
Some students use the long periods of time in-between courses to catch up on their sleep as well as using that valuable time to cram in a little study session so there isn’t as much to do in the evening. Using these helpful hints during your college career will help you get ahead or stay on top of what is required of you as a student. Find a place that is comfortable to you with minimal distractions to help you focus. Use a coffee shop, the library, or even you own dorm room to help in the study process.
