A Tough And Ugly Breakdown

So many times on the news one sees areas in which folks are living that are totally inconceivable to them. I know that has happened to me on many occasions; however, when we broke down outside of Atlanta, Georgia our family experienced the worst living conditions of people I have ever seen. Our van had broken down outside of a small town just two hours south of where we lived. We made it to an auto parts store in a small town just outside the major city. Now, in this particular city our family was a minority as most of the people were of African American decent. At the auto parts store a few men approached my husband and started to help him tinker with the car. Not knowing what else to do, we followed them to their shop. A few hours later, one of my boys needed to use the restroom. One of the men let us use the bathroom in his home. I can promise you that it looked like something I have only seen in movies. There was no floor in half the house. The walls were crumbling and all the cabinets were rotted. The smell was just awful. My sweet little boy took notice of nothing, but I will remember that moment foreverâ?¦forever I will pray that no family ever have to live like that.
